European policies and legislation increasingly impact the coffee value chain. Our mission is to facilitate the development of an environment in which our industry can meet the needs of consumers and society, while competing effectively for sustainable growth.

The European Coffee Federation is the representative organisation of the coffee industry in the EU. Our activities, based on technical expertise and insights, cover pre-competitive matters impacting the European coffee industry. We offer a transparent forum for exchange and promote the sector’s common interests in the largest coffee consuming continent, representing over 30% of the world’s coffee consumption.

The European Coffee Federation offers a platform for:

Dialogue

We gather and coordinate technical and regulatory expertise, developing and defining the coffee sector’s position. As the representative organisation of the EU coffee sector, we do proactively engage with the European policy- and decision-makers in an open dialogue. We do contribute to discussions with different international organisations and relevant stakeholders so as to share the latest policy developments that affect the coffee industry.

Collaboration

We offer members and stakeholders a platform to collaborate in a pre-competitive environment, allowing us to share and learn from one another. We represent the coffee sector in the European food and drink association (FoodDrinkEurope), which further develops the wide range of European policies affecting the food industry, and in the International Coffee Organization Private Sector Consultative Board (PSCB).

Knowledge

We are an evidence-based organisation. Providing technical expertise and insights to the coffee sector and policy-makers is at the core of ECF’s work. We monitor and provide input to draft legislation, policy papers and regulatory issues, while offering technical expertise and insights to members and policy-makers.
